A Very Jonas Christmas: Inside the Brothers’ Most Personal — and Most Playful — Holiday Film Yet

Inside the Jonas Brothers’ Holiday Hit: Creativity, Comedy, and the Secrets They Refused to Share

How the Jonas Brothers balanced authenticity, comedy, and creative boundaries in their new Disney+ Christmas hit

The Jonas Brothers are ringing in the holiday season with their most revealing project yet — A Very Jonas Christmas, which premiered on Disney+ on November 14. The film, a festive comedy that blends fiction with sharp self-parody, gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at family dynamics the trio typically keeps private… but only to a point.

For Kevin, Nick, and Joe, creating a holiday movie together was “a bucket list item.” Working with writers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger — known for emotional hits like This Is Us and How I Met Your Father — the brothers wanted to strike the perfect balance: authentic enough to reflect real life, but exaggerated enough to keep audiences laughing.

“We had individual sessions and basically did a brain dump,” Nick told PEOPLE during their Best of 2025 cover shoot. “We wanted this to feel real and have authenticity from us in there — while still keeping some things personal.”

Once the writers saw the brothers together, the dynamics clicked immediately. The first script draft, Nick recalls, “felt reflective of our real-life relationships.” From there, the Jonas Brothers sharpened the humor, leaned into stereotypes, and pushed the comedic edge.

In the film, the trio plays heightened versions of themselves: Nick as the uptight responsible one, Joe as the lovable tramp who somehow always finds romance, and Kevin as the down-to-earth Jersey guy. But even with the playful self-roasting, there were lines the brothers refused to cross.

“We absolutely vetoed things,” Joe confirms with a grin. “Plenty of times.”

“That was part of the fun on set,” Kevin adds. “Figuring out what we wanted to share and where to draw the line.”

The film lands amid a massive year for the trio. Between their JONAS20 worldwide tour and the highly anticipated return to Camp Rock for its third installment, nostalgia has become a theme of 2025. Revisiting their Disney Channel roots was surreal, Kevin admits: “We stepped onto the Final Jam stage and saw cast members from the original movies… Thank God those movies happened.”

As for whether their Camp Rock band, Connect 3, are actually brothers in the original storyline — even Nick and Kevin can’t say. “We didn’t know, and kind of still don’t,” Nick laughs. Kevin adds, “There’s a reference to it… then there’s not. The lore is real.”

With A Very Jonas Christmas, the brothers have delivered a charming, self-aware holiday film that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly modern. It’s a reminder that after nearly two decades in the spotlight, their chemistry — on and off camera — remains unmatched.
